3rd  Philadelphia voters approve $25 million to build a new sports stadium.

7th  With their home attendance below 800,000 for the past 2 seasons, the NL orders the Braves to stay in Milwaukee in 1965, but permits a move to Atlanta in 1966.

10th  The Braves sign a 25-year lease to play in the new Atlanta stadium.

12th  Former Cincinnati manager Fred Hutchinson, 45, dies of cancer in Florida.

18th  Baltimore 3B Brooks Robinson is voted AL MVP, outpolling Mickey Mantle 269 to 171.

23rd  The Mets purchase P Warren Spahn from the Braves. The Future Hal of Famer, now 43, slumped to a 6–13 record in 1964, after winning 23 the year before.

24th  3B Ken Boyer of the Cardinals is voted NL MVP, with 243 votes to 187 for Philadelphia OF Johnny Callison.

29th  The Phils trade P Dennis Bennett to the Red Sox for 1B Dick Stuart.
