17th  Connie Mack brings back Frankie Hayes to the A’s, trading P Sam Zoldak and minor leaguer Barney Lutz to the Browns for the catcher.

18th Fifteen-year-old Joe Nuxhall signs a contract with the Cincinnati Reds just one day after playing in a high school basketball game.

29th Brooklyn Dodger 1B Howie Schultz is rejected for military service a second time. At 6 foot 6 inches, Schultz is deemed too tall.
