9th Darryl Strawberry pleads guilty to income tax evasion and will spend 3 months in prison, in addition to paying back taxes, interest, and penalties.

In San Juan, Seattle Mariner Edgar Martinez drives in 3 runs, and Bernie Williams hit 2 home runs to lead Puerto Rico to a 9-3 victory over the Dominican Republic and gain its third Caribbean World Series title in four years. Puerto Rico completed the round-robin tournament with a 6-0 record and the Dominican Republic finished 4-2. Earlier today, Ted Wood homered and drove in three runs as Mexico beat Venezuela, 13-2.
