1st   The Astros score 5 runs in the first 2 innings and it is enough to defeat the Dodgers, 5-1, to win their first World Championship. George Springer hits his record-tying 5th homer of the Series for Houston, and is named the Series MVP. Charlie Morton gets the win in relief.

7th   The Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners for 2017 are announced. Nolan Arenado of the Rockies, Alex Gordon of the Royals and Jason Heyward of the Cubs each win for the fifth time. Five players win for the first time, including catchers Tucker Barnhart in the NL and Martin Maldonado in the AL.

8th Houston’s Jose Altuve is named winner of the Players Choice Award for Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.

9thWinners of the Silver Slugger Awards are announced.. Houston’s Jose Altuve and SF’s Buster Posey win for the fourth time. There are 8 first-time winners, including the Yankees Aaron Judge, who is also the only rookie honoree.

10thThe Wilson MLB Defensive Players of the Year Awards are announced. Minnesota OF Byron Buxton is named the Defensive Player of the Year, and the Dodgers are named the Defensive Team of the Year. The Rockies place three players on the list of winners: D.J. LeMahieu (2B), Nolan Arenado (3B) and Tyler Chatwood (P).

13th  Aaron Judge of the Yankees and Cody Bellinger of the Dodgers are named the unanimous winners of the  Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Awards for the AL and NL respectively.

14thArizona’s Torey Lovullo and Minnesota’s Paul Molitor are named Managers of the Year in the NL and AL respectively.

15th Corey Kluber wins his second AL Cy Young Award, and Washington’s Max Scherzer is named the NL winner. It is Scherzer’s third Award, as he previously won twice in the AL with the Tigers.

The Mariners obtain 1B Ryan Healy from the A’s in exchange for P Emilio Pagan and minor league IF Alexander Campos.

16thThe Mariners trade P Thyago Vieira to the White Sox for cash.

Giancarlo Stanton and Jose Altuve are announced as winners of the MVP awards in the NL and AL respectively.

21stMLB bars for life former Atlanta GM John Coppolella for various violations of the international signing rules. He joins Pete Rose and two others barred for life.

30th  The Braves send P Jim Johnson and international pool money to the Angels for minor league P Justin Kelly.
